Legally, I am required to inform the appropriate authorities if there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others that becomes apparent during our sessions.
My counselling philosophy and approach are built on creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for my clients. I integrate a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, internal family systems (IFS), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to tailor our sessions to your specific needs.
Counselling sessions typically last 45-60 minutes, and the frequency depends on your needs. Overall, it is advised to be weekly or fortnightly, but can also be customised to align with your specific circumstances and goals.
No, counsellors cannot make official diagnoses. However, I am trained to recognise different mental health issues and may use assessments like the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21) to assess your mental health. If I suspects that you may require a formal diagnosis or the involvement of other professionals, I will communicate this to you and provide guidance on seeking additional support from qualified mental health specialists or medical professionals.
